I've done a lot of research on the Single Stage vs Base Coat/Clear Coat. But many of the forums are from 2006-2008. We all know how technology in stuff like that advances. I'm not looking for a SEMA truck, I just want it to look good. I'm leaning towards a single stage. I'm gonna go with a solid color. What are your peoples' opinions?

Advantages to both.
SS is one less step. Slightly less expensive.
BC/CC looks better close up. Deeper gloss. Much better UV resistance. Will look better years down the road.

Biggest advantage to SS is easy small scratch repair. When I have used SS in the past I ended up clearing over it anyway. I'd use BC/CC

BC/CC is the best way to go. Better gloss retention and easier to repair if you ever have to.

Sorry for slow replies. I've been crazy busy at work. Does anyone know of any good brands of paint? Im gonna go with a satin black color. I don't really want too glossy

I like BC/CC . Yeah there's two steps but the BC flashes in like 5 minutes so if you don't have a "sterile" booth bugs and dust are less of a problem. Fixes are a snap. Clear coat can be a pain if you're scared of it. You can get a ton of orange peel if you don't shoot it wet enough. Almost to the point of running but then it flashes quickly also... BC/CC is the way to go for graphics also. You can mask off, shoot a color and in 5 minutes or so peel tape , remask and shoot another color, rinse and repeat. Works great with air brushing also. You can also add metal flake to the first coat of clear and get some nice results.
