Title: 90 Blazer with a Fisher MM2 EZ-V plow.
Post by: fitz on December 21, 2015, 07:21:39 pm
I bought a plow truck.
I'm passing papers on a new house at the end of January.  It has  a long  driveway so this should do the trick.
It's a 90 Blazer Silverado with a Fisher MM2 EZ-V 8.5' plow.  Its the first Blazer I've seen with a plow this big. It seems to handle it well, we will see how it works out.
The game plan is to use this truck for a driveway plow for the winter. In the spring I will put the plow set up on my M1028.

The plow is big for a 1/2 ton.
I'll have to check the weight of it compared to an old fisher speedcast 7.5' traditional style plow.  The front end doesn't sag as much as I thought it would lifting an 8.5' plow.
I've seen 2004ish Chevy 2500HD's with plows on them that do nose dives when lifting the plow. This truck doesn't do that..
I'll just use it as a driveway plow for the winter, not an over the road daily driver. In the spring the plow will go on the M1028.
The M1028 is rated as a 5/4 ton truck. With 4.56 gears, a Detroit locker in the rear, limited slip Dana 60 front, and 2" Tough Country HD front springs, this truck should handle the plow fine.

I'm surprised it holds the weight. Tho remember that the blazer uses front springs and 2004ish 2500s use torsion bars to support the front weight. Tho they work well, they don't supprt the weight at the same point the springs do.
