Title: Intermittent wipers
Post by: brewster on December 28, 2015, 09:34:47 pm
I have a 1975 k20 and it drives me nuts to leave my wipers on if they aren't needed so since I don't have intermittent wipers on my 1975 I was wondering how hard it would be to convert to intermittent wipers and what would be the best way to do it, should I just get a new switch and motor from a junkyard from a later model truck, or are there aftermarket kits that work better.

I know we talked about this before (use the search I'll also try and find it) but I think you can use the parts off a newer 73-87 with the right wipers

I know we have more but here's one

Doesn't go into great detail but also you have to think about where the wiper switch is at and where it will be from the donor or new setup I think I've seen a kit for our trucks. The delay part isn't all in the switch as there's also a module

Irish is right;
There's not only the switch, but the module as well. The module, on mine at least, is on the bottom of the steering column.
There are two switches, one for trucks with, and one for without cruise.
Be careful with buying the parts used, I've had a hard time tracking down a used wiper module that actually works right.
