1984 chevy c10.
Hey guys my motor currently went out so I'm looking into a 396 will it fit right in and bolt to a 700r tranny?

Yes the bell housing bolts are the same on all Chevy engines, v-6 4.3L all the way through the big block.  Some have said the engine clam shells are specific to big block and of course you would have to have all the components from the big block if you are replacing something smaller.  The flex plate for the 396 will not have the bolt hole pattern for the torque converter if it is original.  Not sure if the replacements have both patterns on them.

Sure will! Like zieg85 said the flex plate will be the only issue. Either drill the proper holes in the one that comes on the big block or order a flex plate to match engine/tranny combo. They are relatively cheap.
