So today I got up and made a trip to the local junkyard in search of a fan shroud. I was shocked when I found 3 in useable shape so I bought 2 and put one up inside the truck for the next time so no one come by and destroys it (a huge problem here)
then I realized that the truck I spotted the day before with my boss while looking for a pt cruiser dash pad for a customer (those things are terrible vehicles in my opinion) not only was a 76 with a good motor and trans.
I told my dad who went with me that's a mid 70s when we were walking up to it and he was shocked I was right. turned the key and it was turning over but not starting I assume no fuel or spark. Then I started looking it over and I couldn't believe it was a bonanza model. It's the only one I've ever seen and philodobbies (sorry if it's mispelled) is the only one I had heard of.
It was in rough shape but I later asked if they would sell the whole truck and they said nope they only "junk em out" ugh what a waist they will just be destroyed and left to rot like every other c10 there.
But I've got quite a collection of fender and dash badges so I've decided to go back next Saturday and get the badges and maybe the rough n rusty factory air cleaner which still has the stickers on it. If there still there. When I get a nice set of nerf bars for my 04 (there on a 99 but there the right lenght) for only $25 a piece.
The shrouds were only $10 a piece and a while back I found a vent window for $15.
I believe I can take the black shroud apart remove the fan put the lower half on re install the fan and try to find a way to mount the top of the shroud. The bonanza still had a shroud and core support cover but it had a short wide radiator and my 82 has a tall skinny one (which isn't staying cool with it and a straight fan) so hopefully it helps.

Totally mispelled!! Thats ok bro
Mine is the only one!! LOL
Hey, did you happen to see the fender emblem, "Bonanza-10", mine says "20" obviously the wrong one. Loooking for the 10, saw a pair on ebay for $49.
Let me know, thanks

Why would you want to take the shroud apart?
Drop the shroud down it, lean it back, put a clutch fan on, mount the shroud.

Phillobeddoe I believe they were bonanza-10 emblems. Email me or pm me my email is gagecampbell12@gmail.com I could prob pull them for you if you would just pay for postage and whatever the junkyard says they want for them. Sometimes they say "just take it home they aint worth nothin" but it depends whos there. Either way im sure itd be far cheaper than 49.99!
I'm going back this Saturday for the nerf bars and ive recruited a friend who doesnt realize the mountain of concrete the truck is on which has no wheels and is laying on the nerf bars.lol. and I'm going to have him help me get the emblems too.
And blazin the reason for taking it apart is because I'm running a straight fan and no longer have the clutch fan that was once on it. So the easiest way (to me) since it won't fit between the fan and rad. Is to pull it apart. Bolt the bottom half on then reinstall the fan and put the upper shroud on and bolt them together. And also so when I'm working on the truck I can just remove the top half of the shroud like Many newer trucks.
I intend to epoxy the few cracks back together then maybe try my hand at making a fiberglass shroud by using the plastic one as a template. Since there hard to find down here and I have a few buddies who need one also.
I just have to make a bracket to bolt the top half of the shroud to the core support since it hangs right over the edge of the rad and hooks over the front side. But that should be simple. I believe they came with a core support cover that screwed to the upper part of the shroud. Sadly I couldn't find one but I'll keep searching.

Thanks, i sent you a pm. I was told you have to remove the fender to install those. Is that right?
-
Yes I believe so. I pmed you back. And ill be sure to get back with you with pictures as soon as I get home from the yard on Sat.

Ok, thanks, i appreciate it man!!

Here are the ebay ones.

2 broken mounting pins on those.
-
No problem man. And I believe blazer74 is correct they look like there broken. and $49 sounds outrageous to me! My trucks emblems have been shaved long before I got it but I have emblems off my dash pad and my dad's 82 silverado.
-
Yeah, the seller did state they each had a broken tab, that dosnt mean it still cant be used.
-
Just curious why you would remove a clutch fan in favor of a fixed one?
-
Blazin, I pieced the truck together and I had a fixed fan and I didn't have a clutch fan. And I haven't bought one yet because I plan to eventually go to electric fans. But I've been told that the fixed fan will help it run slightly cooler than a clutch fan and I have been having a problem keeping temps down at idle and in slow traffic.

My old Camaro used to get hot at redlights and in slow traffic. I took off the coolant lines going to the heater core and stuck one in a bucket and blew compressed air into the other. buddy told me it could of been clogged and it must of been because it fixed it. you could probably flush it with water too.

Gage, how did you make out at the bone yard?
-
You still there gage? Did you fall in some old chevy hole at the boneyard and cant get out??
-
Thanks blazin I'll try that out. And philobeddoe I'm sorry I've been busy with work and last Saturday it was pretty cold so I didn't make it out there. I may get a chance to go this weekend. The badges should still be there since the fenders were in pretty rough shape so doubt anyone has gotten them. I'll get back with you as soon as I get a chance to make it out there.

No problem gage, take your time, thanks. I was just messin.
