2010 Silverado 4x4,At 267 miles transmission rebuilt,4900 miles back to shop for transmission fluid leaking. 5200 miles transmission gone. I want a new transmission,Chevy says they will rebuild it again. Can you say lemon. Needless to say I am not very happy with Chevy. (Silverado WT 4.8L, spam (http://spam)).

You meam 267,000 right? The lemon law thing will never happen. At that milage there is no way for any dealership to be able to 100% guarantee that the rebuilt transmission will go another 267,000 miles. It could have been a part that was reusable by inspection later failed or an assembly mistake by the technician or a new part from the rebuilt prematurely failed, it just happens sometimes. As long as you are within the time and milage warranty of the transmission which by your miles looks like you are. The best thing to do is take it back to them, let them disassemble it, find the cause of the failure and determine if another rebuilt is sufficient or if a SeRTA (Service Replacement Transmission Assembly) is a better choice. A SeRTA is the closest you will get to a new transmission, they are old transmissions rebuilt by GM in a factory like original, not by a technician at a dealership or shop. GM doesn't make a new transmission for that vehicle. Sometimes these things happen, the best thing to do is let the correction process continue, who know, maybe the guy building it made a mistake and they will cover it for you no problem. Maybe the transmission case that was reused and already has 267 miles on failed. They may find something else the cause that was just something neither you or they had control over, i.e. freak of nature.
You can ask them to just replace it with a SeRTA and be on your way but it would be worth while to find the cause of failure of the rebuilt transmission.
I work at a dealership, we had a 2003 3500 HD work truck with 237,000 miles on it come in and have the engine replaced with a brand new one. 1 week later truck is back with the check engine light on. The catalytic converters are old and already have 237,000 miles on them. The new engine is more efficient than the old worn out engine was, this is throwing off the computer because the 02 sensor readings don't match like they used to and it's showing us that the cat converts are old and need to be replaced as well. We have no way of knowing any of that unless something happens. That truck could have gone another 200,000 with the original cats. It all depends on the integrity of the parts that already have high milage and use on them.

Looking at the miles in the rest of the post, I'd say he meant 267 miles...not 267k...as in, transmission went out at 267 miles...Less than 1000 miles.

Yes but he also said it's a 2010. I'm going on the assumption that it already has 267,000 miles and the other two milages he mentioned were the miles put on the rebuilt transmission before it failed. It just doesn't seem likely that the issue is with a truck that only had 267 miles on it. Not saying it's impossible, just that I dought it. However, it very well could be that this is on a 6 year old truck with less than 6K miles.
We will have to wait for a reply.

This is a common type of spamming post. On one of the forums I mod, we went through a slew of these slightly cryptic/almost relevant posts.

That was my first thought. But I figured I would give him/her a chance to redeem themselves. We've seen other spam and it would be for parts but kenworth kind of blew me away lol

The funny thing about it was they would only post once with a link that took you to random sites. There would never be a reply, so my best guess was they were bots set up by someone.
