Ive heard companies like chevy duty and   truck sell the front portion on our hoods and i think jc whitney does as well.I plan on doing this to my 80 hood as well.I was gonna go for a cowl induction hood but i  wanna keep the 396 a suprise and under a stock hood :lol

thanks

Welding on a hood even the front edge is risky. If you get it to hot it will warp the sheet metal. I have also seen the patch panels for the front of the hood but never used one.

Well i just decided i purchased the front portion from jc whitney and we shall see what it looks like when it arrives.Cutting off the front wont be hard ,just time consuming.I aint afraid of warping it cause when you said it its a good idea to take a rag and a bucket of water and when it gets warm to take the rag and soak it and cool the metal when it starts getting real warm, but since its the front portion of the hood it shouldn`t be any problem.
thanks
