Title: 79 GMC 2WD 1 ton dually stake bed swap
Post by: 77 K30 Crew Cab Dually on September 08, 2005, 10:22:00 pm
I have a 1 ton GMC Stakebed 2wd dually. I want to put the regular fleetside dually bed on there in place of the stake body bed that's on now. This truck was originally a stake bed truck. I would like to know if I can put a bed on this truck just the same as I would put it on a regular factory fleetside dually. Anyone have answers/experience? Thank you.

Dave

If it was a stake bed from the factory, it was (probably) originaly a cab and chassis. The cab and chassis had a narower rear end than the dually, the dually and the pickups had the same rear end width. Pickups and duallies have approx. 4' between the backing plate and the spring perch. The cab and chassis has approx 2" or less between the backing plate and the spring. the dually bed florrs are the same as a pickup, just the quarters are diferent. The inner tire won't clear the wheel well.
