Ive got a hodge podge of parts for my 79. The bed is in pretty good shape, as is the cab. They will need some body work, but nothing major. I'm planning on repainting them so my truck is one color. Would it make sense to take a DA and bring it all back down to metal, use filler to make my panels straight or would I be wasting time? As in I could just prime, find my low spots, use filler and so on. Its not gonna be a show truck by any means, but I dont was a p.o.s either

What does the base look like right now?
Mine was junk. I decided early on that ALL metal would be stripped. I had places that if you did a "test sand through" you would go straight from color to bare metal. There was placed that there was no primer under the top coat. If you look at my build thread for my '77 you will see that everything was stripped so that the primer had nothing between it and the metal.

Theres a very thin layer of primer. But ill probably take it all down to bare metal
