Is the side marker lights the only difference between 79' fenders and 84' fenders.
I'm wanting to know so I can determine if I can use a 79' core support and grille with 84' fenders and hood.
-
73-80 are the same and here is where the design changes
81-86 (87-91 R/V) are the same
So no your 79 and 84 fenders are not interchangeable
-
So the contours are different then.
Next question is can a 79' grille be made to work on a 84' core support?

Anything can be made to work. But if you mean using OEM parts then no.

I am hoping that the 79' core support and grille can be made to work with the 84' fenders and hood.

73-80 from the firewall forward is different from 81 on. They do not interchange

It isn't possible without a massive rework of the profile of the front fenders.
-
If I use everything 79' from the firewall forward, how will the 79' hood match up to the 84' tub?
-
You over on diesel place too?
Hood will work, need to use 79 wiper system and either cover or leave the hinge holes on the later tub
