Title: Emergency Flasher Relay 12V Power
Post by: Thundergun on March 06, 2016, 06:49:45 pm
Hey Everyone.

I have an 85 k10. The emergency flashers dont work when i pull the column switch. A friend says i need to check the flasher.
Can anyone tell me what it looks like and roughly where it's located? I know its under the dash, but not seeing it. There is a good chance it's not even there.
The turn signals work fine. When i pull the emergency switch nothing comes on at all.

Does anyone know the part number for the correct emergency flasher relay?

Also, i'd like to get my 12V cigarette light working for power. Not sure where to begin on that either ...

Thanks in advance for the help!!

The hazard flasher plugs into the Convenience Center mounted on the firewall inside the cab directly above the accelerator pedal.  The hazard flasher and turn signal flasher look similar (image) and are interchangeable.  The cigar lighter is powered off of the horn fuse and is powered at all times, so start by checking the fuse.

Thank you very much! Wow this was an easy fix for the emergency flashers. Yes, there is a small square panel, maybe 3"x3", and it had one square relay plugged into it (probably for the turn signals?), and there was an empty port that said HZ/F ... Jackpot. Went and bought the flasher at Autozone, plugged it in, good to go!

You're welcome!  The "square relay" in the Convenience Center is the horn relay.

The flasher used to pop out when I released the e-brake pedal on my 85.  Keep an eye out.
I finally put a dot of RTV on the bottom of the flasher and plugged it in.
