Title: '78 K20 Short Bed w/ Dual Exhaust and Rear Tank
Post by: harcorshe on March 07, 2016, 11:12:19 am
I'm in the process of a short bed conversion for my '78 K20 with dual 20 gallon tanks and I can see that I will need to switch to 16 gallon tanks.

OR I was thinking about switching to a rear mounted 25 tank. My concern is the dual exhaust and if there is enough space to re-route the exhaust inside the frame rails, but still away from the gas tank. Does anyone have this setup? Any idea how far I need to keep the exhaust from the gas tank?

Here's a test fit of the short bed.

My Cherokee exhaust is about 2 inches away, I routinely see exhaust this close, add a heat shield for a little more peace of mind

when i did the exhaust on my 86 i did 45° turn out right under the fuel tank. it was about a inch from the tank with no problems
