The flexplate cover on my 1985 K10 700r4 tranny is pretty beat up one bolt hole for a brace seems to be stripped out and one of the holes doesn't even line up so I was looking online for a replacement and all I see are ones without spots for the braces. Are these necessary?

not sure about the braces. I thought they just had a 4 bolt pattern. will look under my 85', to get a better idea. you can always tap out, bump up to the next size. Avoid the heavy mud if you choose to run w/o the dust shield.

It's highly recommend that regardless if you avoid mud or not but to always have a bell housing cover to protect against not only mud but also rocks, gravel, road debris and ANYTHING that could get sucked into or caught and wrapped around a high spinning steel drum and a disc with sharp teeth. Especially if you happen to be under the vehicle while it's running. You do NOT want your hair or extremities to get caught up in that.

Plan is restore to a street legal mud rig so no plans to roll without it. It's go 6 holes
