I have installed a 1 wire alternator on my build. Are the stock wires needed for anything else? The wires from the stock alternator I plan to just cut short to clean up the engine compartment.

i know on the race cars we just cut the wires and electrical taped the ends and never had any problems.

x2 i know on my cummins i put the one wire in but kept the stock pigtail in the trucks wire harness. it saved me for doing this cause i was on vacation and it was the weekend. my one wire alternator crapped out so luckily i left the stock pigtail in place and i went to the parts store and picked up a new alternator. if i didnt keep the wires in place i would of had to wait till monday for an alternator shop to open

Your right. I don't know of any auto parts stores that carry one wire alternators. I'll just tuck them up out of the way.

O'Reilly's sells a one wire Delco cased alternator.

One of my neighbors put this on his '67 CJ-5. That Jeep has all sorts of wiring issues, so he used one of these for the simplicity of just hooking up to the positive terminal.
