Title: Ignition switch adjustment
Post by: Chuck Step-a-side on April 24, 2016, 03:42:19 pm
This is concerning the ignition switch adjustment (not the key switch). The ignition switch for 1984 C10 is mounted on the lower column. Does anyone one knows the proper way to adjust the switch? I'm having a problem with starting the engine when steering wheel is adjusted all the way upwards. If I move the steering wheel perfectly straight it will start. Thanks

Loosen the two screws and adjust it up tighter. If it is not actuating still then the ignition rack gear is most likely broken.

This is a brand new ignition switch. I have adjusted a couple of time going upwards and this is where I'm at now. Any lower will give me problems.

The column is pretty tight, so there's no slop. I have ordered the rack replacement kit and the needed tools. Then I'm going to tackle the installation this or next weekend. If this rack replacement doesn't solve the problem, I just going to replace the starter.  I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you all for the help.
