Title: Rear - one side lower... shock?
Post by: OldGray on April 25, 2016, 04:30:53 pm
My Right Rear is about 1-2" lower than the Driver's side (and rest of the truck).  Leaf springs look normal, both sides.  Will a bad shock cause this?  If not, what do I look for?

THANKS

Frame tweaked or broken/fatigued leaf spring.  Hard to see one cracked in the stack sometime

Bummer... shocks would have been EASY!   :-(

How hard is the replacement?  Looks like I have the stack of 7 (Bonanza package).  Junk yard?

I would go new, salvage yard if you are lucky in finding some in a truck that was already replaced.  I've gone the used route and ended up buying new a year later.  Do it right the first time if funds allow.

Been doing some reading and it seems like an uneven Chevy bed is a very common problem, in general.  If the Leaf Springs are in decent shape, I may just shim it or "get used to it"...   But of course I would do any work that needed to be done if it made the truck dangerous.
