Title: 305/ Edelbrock 1411 adapter gasket help!!!
Post by: SquareBody86 on April 25, 2016, 07:47:19 pm
Since I've been doing all the other usual stuff on my old 86 C10 I figured while I'm at it to replace the carb gaskets. The gasket between the carb and adapter plate looks ok but the one between the adapter and the manifold looks to have a nice black spot on the from which after shutting the truck off after running it for a bit smoke is coming from it.

So my question is what gasket is that? I have an Edelbrock 1411 on it, well it was on it when I bought the truck. But anyways I've managed to find the regular square bore carb gaskets but I can't find anything on a adapter plate gasket. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It should jsut be a spreadbore gasket, http://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/carburetor-base-plate-gaskets/carburetor-flange/spread-bore

Isn't that 1411 a bit much for a 305?

Eevn I agree that the 1411, a 750cfm is a bit much for a 305 but I really didn't have choice over it as the 1411 was on it when I bought it, a 600cfm carb would be a bit better. And of couse this isn't the original motor ether as for some reason the original owner swapped it out and left a good mess behind, nothing that can't be fixed but an annoyance for sure.

and currently I have no idea if its just some 305 he threw in with the carb or a 350. ether way it does run pretty good. I have to get around to running the numbers on it, if I can mange to figure out how.
