I just purchased this truck and am trying to work my way through its problems. First problem was an oil leak which was fixed by replacing the oil pressure switch above the oil filter housing. Second issue is the truck stalls when shifting into reverse or drive and coasting at slow speeds without pressing the accelerator.
Any help into the right direction would be much appreciated.

do you have a cel light on?
-
I don't think so but I'm not sure what that is.
-
check engine light
-
does it come on when you first turn the key "on"
-
there is no check engine light on while running or even initially with the key on.
-
it should come on initially no matter what. check and replace the bulb, if you can get it to work you might be able to pull a code from it

I had this exact problem for years b4 I figured it out...now that doesn't mean you have the same exact issue but it is likely due to wear in the throttle body and the Idle Air Control Motor not keeping up due to the low idle when the truck is placed in gear. Definitely replace the bulbs for the CEL. Mine was blown and I didn't know it until I started searching this problem and Capt(Chris) noticed it didn't come on in a video. There's a lot of variables that can cause this so CEL is definitely first.

Any suggestions on getting the instrument panel out? Seems to be stuck on the speedo
-
It was the speedo cable. Finally got enough slack to unhook it

The check engine bulb is replaced and working properly. The IAC valve is new and had been replaced by the previous owner.
-
That could very well be the problem of it wasn't reset properly
-
What is the proper way to reset it?
-
Have you checked for codes yet?
