Title: Dashpad repair
Post by: Tommyd11730 on May 04, 2016, 04:21:13 pm
Have a dash pad some genius covered in carpet.  Any solvents you can suggest to loosen the glue that will not completly eat the pad?

They probably covered it because it was damaged. If it's in decent shape, sell it to someone who might like it and start fresh

It's so ugly only a mother could love it.  Also it's from a non AC truck so that further limits my options. I really want to try my hand at fixing it.

They are the same with or without ac, just the panel molding is different. You might want to try a heat gun and if you can get it off use some solvent to remove the glue. Good luck

If you can find a degreaser with an orange base to it,(like BIG ORANGE DEGREASER) it will cut the adhesive and not harm the dash.  It may take several wipes with a towel, but it will come clean.

WD-40 is a great solvent for sticky stuff.  Might be worth a try?
