Hello. I am extremely new to classic vehicles. I really wanted a nice classic family car. Like a 4 door 350/350 or something of the sort. Maybe a Mopar from the 70s. Instead I traded for something thats not at all my thing, but is cool as heck! I want to fix it up and sell it or trade it eventually. This big boy has a 454 in it. The rear axel is a spool. 400 transmission. 40" tires 12" of lift and a whole bunch of other goodies. On all the paperwork it's a 1978 Chevy half ton. I am not sure that is accurate though. Just was told bunch of sheet metal was changed. I need to fix few things on it and can't figure out where to get the parts and what fits. Can use some help. I need drivers side light bezel and maybe a dashboard cover if it's easy to swap. I'd want some kind of a radio since only AM works in mine.

Welcome from NV,
A lot of stuff gets changed out on these older truck because it was easy to swap around. Hard to tell from the pic but those look like 3/4 ton axles (K20) a good pic of the pumpkins would make it easy to tell.
The front bumper with integrated ligths was used on the 81-82 models. that front cllip (Grill, headlamps, radiator support) was used on the 88-91 R/V series (Suburbans, Fullsize Blazers, Crew Cabs), Front fenders and hood are from any 81-87 C/K (88-91 R/V)
Cab and bed stayed mostly the same throughout with a few minor exceptions (Square gas door was 78-87(91) gas cap on earlier) Different window glass on earlier models, etc. Minor stuff. Interior went through a couple changes, mostly cosmetic.
Let us know what you're trying to fix, with some pics and somebody'll point you in the right direction.

timthescarrd, thanks so much for the info, which exact year and the model should I select for the light bezel. Any good websites I should chose for this and other parts?

I think 1989 would work for you.

IIRC 89-91 were all the same, so any of those years will work, the problem is selecting the right model, some sites will properly list them as r1500,r2500,r3500,v1500-3500 others don't, the easiest method would be selecting a suburban (front clip is the same and it stayed the same until 92) So select an 89 Suburban and you'll be fine.
This site right here http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/merchant2/ has a lot of parts available and Chris (CaptKaos) is picky about quality on aftermarket, you can message him if you don't see what you need he may be able to get it. I also find alot of parts from salvage or ebay.

You mentioned a spool in the rear...man that's gotta be fun and dangerous at the same time...I would certainly verify that and change it in a heart beat...unless it's just a serious toy. I doubt that because there's already a TOYOTA parked beside it.. please tell me you can hear that 454 over that prius!

Spool in the rear is right. Every time I turn into the gas station it goes chirp chirp chirp, luckily no one can hear it over the rumble of the cammed 454 through two cherry bombs. ;) I want to sell it or trade it for the car I really want ASAP, but meanwhile I am enjoying it almost every day and fixing the minor things it needs. I have 4 bikes and two other cars, miata and lifted excursion. I like toys. My wife loves her prius and wants another one when this one goes. :)

Perfect family vehicle, welcome from MA.
You must be talking about the 4x4 square body pumping the big block American Heart Beat through a spool locked rear end! (Righ?)
