Title: Quadrajet 17085226

The two holes for the set screws in baseplate are stripped. Will the baseplate off of a different quadrjet work?

Have a Rochester quadrajet 17085226 with the baseplate stripped for idle set screws. Can I use a baseplate off of a different carb other than the 17085226??

You could but if the idle passages, vacuum passages etc. don't match then it probably won't work very good.

i hear it's an easy repair for the idle mix screw holes.

May want to go over to Cliff's quadrajet forum:

Got a carb off of a 1979.  baseplate looks identical to mine. No difference at all. Now it seems the valves are stuck shut on the one I just picked up. Got it soaking in penetrating oil. Fingers crossed.

Could be the same. Bypass air passages might be different size.
Also the vacuum Ports may be different.
Be careful with the frozen linkage, the shafts easily bend.

Got it together. A little grinding on the front passenger side of carb where it was indented for throttle body. But other than that it worked out well. Thànx for the input.
