Looks good!
1 last question is it required to remove the vent Windows?
-
It will make it easier to get to the 3nuts and support bar that holds the OE mirrors on but it's not completely required. If you decide to take the vent out make sure you remove the main glass as well b4 hand or you will wish you did.

At the risk of high jacking this thread... I had the sport mirrors on my 77 K10. They look cool but are useless as mirrors if you are doing truck stuff like backing up a trailer. I went with the standard AutoZone truck mirrors that have 3 point mounts. The work great as mirrors but are ugly. So I am thinking about going to the Dumbo mirrors as a compromise. I was also looking at using mirrors from a newer vehicle but haven't found ones that look like they would be an easy upgrade. Any ideas or suggestions?

I merged the "dumbo" style mirror mounts with the "towing" style mirror. I love them, they are perfect for a truck and slide out for towing, (slide out function was my own modification).

The little square sport mirrors are cool on a camaro, useless on a truck.

I hate the term dumbo mirrors. What you picture there are what everyone i ever knew called dumbo mirrors.
-
Dang! I knew my idea would get stolen! I have always wanted to go sport. Hate dumbo. Vile, i have a 77, why do i have dumbos? (It sounds weird asking that).
You mentioned on your link, 78-up is standard. (Dumbo)
-
I don't see them as dumbo. To me there's the small sport mirror, the standard mirror and the towing mirror I pictured.
I would instantly choose the standard mirror or the towing mirror over the sport mirror any day.
-
LTZ your mirrors somehow look great and you tow stuff. I tow nothing and haul nothing, except maybe cotton balls, lol. Anyway, its just my personal preferance. I love this look.

Sometimes they just fit better on the right truck but to me, the sport mirror just gives a truck the "tiny T-rex arms" look.

Those look pretty good and they won't tear up the door skins like the tripod bases.
-
Lol, yeah i understand. And they do remind you of a camero or chevelle or nova. But,,,,i do like the small simple look.
My f-350 diesel had giant door mounted camper mirrors, i put two stainless bolts through the holes and installed the small plain ones.

Grew up with a kid named Timbo
Later I found out his name was really Tim. But he had really big ears and .....
Even his parents called him that when he was 19 or 20

Funny.... Especially when you look at the pic of dumbo vile posted.

Well not using the tripod mounts was part of the merge of the two styles. My doors already have the holes from the small tripod mounts above the body line. They have been covered by another owner with either body filler or bondo. Granted it's old and small cracks are forming. So it was either use the tripods and have to cover up the standard mirror holes or just continue using the standard mirror mounts. I think the standard mounts make the tow mirrors look attractive.
-
So, must we remove the inner door panel to convert to the small sport mirrors?

Those aren't Dumbo mirrors. Once again, thank the internet for perpetuating stupid terms being used. What's your spid label call them? ;)
-
I think the spid calls them "below eyeline mirrors"
As does this merchant:
https://www.brotherstrucks.com/mobile/77-87-BELOW-EYELINE-MIRROR-STAINLESS-STEEL/productinfo/OMA87SS/
So what does a true "dumbo" mirror look like?
-
This is a true Dumbo mirror
-
Lol!
