I just hit 494k miles yesterday. My dad and grandfather built the 361 currently in it and put it in around 100k. At around 450k miles I removed the oil pan and the timing cover to reseal the lower end. While I had it off I plastiguaged the berings and they all looked good. I replaced the oil pump, fuel pump, sparkplug wires, distributor cap and rotor, valve cover gasket, t-stat and radiator lines. I also rebuilt the carb.
What all should I start looking at when I hit 500k?

Wow 500000 that's awesome!!! I'd be checking the driveline and all the fluids. Axle bearings and gears. The suspension in particular the bushings and springs. After a good going over you should be able to keep on trucking. How far are you going to go? Be awesome to see almost a million ahah. My family has a 2000 dodge 3500 with over half a million kms on it. Just this past winter we did a complete overhaul of it. Fluids, suspension, breaks, injectors and pump, body etc. Truck runs like a champ. Beats buying a new one with all the emission junk on it.

One of these days I'll pass it on down to my grandkids just as my grandfather did with me. But I've still got probably a good 25 years or better till then.
