Post by: MitchThor14 on July 20, 2016, 05:21:28 pm
Hello everybody, i have a 1984 C20 and was wondering if i could take an 84 dually rear end and springs and just drop them underneath my truck? Is the frame the same width? Thanks.

You will have to use the 1 ton spring hangers.

The frame is narrower in the rear on the dually.

Umm not on these style trucks, on these trucks the frames are the same, the spring hangers are narrower to bring the springs in to clear the backing plate-at least on the two cab and chassis and the one crew cab dually I've seen. Later trucks(1988+) the frame widths can vary.

With that being said, I'm pretty sure the dually axle off of a pickup will work, you just need to reweld new spring perches, if it is a cab and chassis axle, then you need the hangers as the axle itself is narrower, meaning less space between the backing plates
