Junk yard, eBay, parts car/truck. ID your compressor and they will most likely be the same on other applications with a BBC

I don't have the compressor. The motor came out of an 86 C-30 and I bought it back in 02. I had the brackets but they have since disappeared. :( I've tried the salvage yards around San Antonio and they have all crushed and gotten rid of anything before 2000 model years. Were the compressors the same on 86 big and small block applications?

1986 and 1983 would've had the Harrison R4 Radial "Pancake" compressor. The R4 doesn't have a stellar reputation for reliability and it doesn't do as well with R134a as other compressors that GM used. I'd only use the R4 if you're doing a restoration on a high dollar vehicle. These trucks ain't high dollar.
If you are starting from scratch why not get an aftermarket Sanden Vee belt compressor with the proper brackets.
You could update to a stock 1996-2001 MK VI big block serpentine belt and pulley setup with the Harrison H series or Sanden compressor too. It'll give you the bracketry needed to use a higher output CS series alternator too. You'll need the serpentine reverse rotation water pump and clutch fan.
GM 19172805 (http://www.crateenginedepot.com/Big-Block-Accessory-Drive-with-air-19172805-P10033.aspx) is the 1988-1995 serpentine kit for big blocks with a new R4 compressor... I've seen it for around $1000... Not cheap. When the R4 takes a dump you can upgrade to a Sanden.
