I have an 83 k10 with a non tilt column and manual transmission . Ive been watching craigslist and eBay hoping to find one with tilt but am having no luck. I have found the universal gm columns on eBay but have some questions. They come in two sizes..... A 28 and a 32. I'm a big guy with a single cab pickup so could I use the 28? What are some things I need to consider before commiting to a universal part? How much trouble am I going to have?

Welcome from the St. Louis area. Tilt columns for a 4 speed floor shift are hard to find but not impossible. I snagged one for my 85 but I had to buy the whole truck for it. As far as length for an aftermarket I can't comment but with a smaller steering wheel you can gain some extra belly room. Here is my 85 C20 454 4 speed with a tilt column and a '92 Chevy Lumina wheel.

I have been looking for a tilt wheel for my truck too.

Even the trucks are hard to find in my area.

Check your local craigslist or a hot rod shop
Several companies make GM Collumns since that's what all the hot rods use
I think the blank collar from your manual column will slide onto a automatic column

Been on Craigslist since I bought the truck. Still a no go. No hot rod shops in my area. That's why I went to eBay.

They go for about $150 around Atlanta
There's half a dozen on CL Atlanta
Doubt you'll ever find a manual Trans one
But the collar should interchange
It does on fords

Is there anything else I can do to give me a little more room? What other steering wheels will work that don't look horrible? Would different seats help?

Mid-late 70's Camaro steering wheel works. 85 on seats the seat backs have less padding and give a little more room. If you can find a bench seat out of a 1991 Suburban they work best but do not fold forward to access behind the seat. You will need to use the slides off of your seat.

I have the RPO code NK4 4-spoke sport wheel for Camaro, Chevelle and Vega.
