Title: 4x4 identification
Post by: 2011laramie on July 25, 2016, 05:24:01 pm
When looking at trucks online, is it safe to say that if it has locking hubs it will have a np203, and if its not locking hubs it will be a np205 or 208?

im super new to these older 4x4 trucks. so sorry for the super rookie question.

The other way around. Drive hubs not locking hubs with a NP203.

Buuuut these trucks are old, no telling what has been done to them.

It is possible a truck with a 203  could also have locking hubs and a part time kit installed or just the lockouts and no longer full time 4x4

Keep that in mind.

Thank you for the explanation, ive been doing some reading on google and its starting to make alot more sense.

im going to pick up an old farm truck next week with a 4speed and  looking at the picture its got lockable hubs. i really didnt want a np203.

you could also guess by the year of the truck but like stated you can swap most these parts around with any year or model
