As I had asked in previous threads weeks ago which torque converter I should install (reason was to change the tyranny front seal which was leaking) I was finally able to install the B&M converter this past weekend.
For my setup a dd 86 silverado with a 79 350 and a th350 it's great! Much more responsive and "tighter" feeling all around. I was able to tune my Eddie carb from the stock 1406 to the 1405 setting as well. I feel all that's left is the rear gears!

The stock stall speed for a 79 th350 converter is 1600-1800.

I'll be replacing the oil pan eventually as well, its pretty banged up but no leaks!

Just curious, i don't have a whole lot of experience with aftermarket converters, but do you feel that the B+M converter is more precision made than stock so as to give a more responsive and tighter feel? i was thinking that higher stall would feel "looser", but again i don't have a whole lot of experience with this.

From what I can tell first hand, the tighter more responsive feel may be due to the better condition of the new converter honestly more than what the stall speed is. you can really feel the difference when you gun the throttle, if its is light cruising it feels normal-stockish. From the things I have read though B&M make very good, quality parts and I'm sure the quality has to do much with the performance.
Also taking into account I tuned my carb around the same time, its likely a combination of both that gives an improved feel. but they do go hand in hand.
