Driving along and go over a bump and the hood pops up to the safety catch.I used lithium grease on it before I installed it and I've loosened the pin (brought it down) and moved it around (left, right front, back) and still pops.Anyone have this problem before?
-
you need to adjust your striker on the hood. Loosen the Jam nut and adjust it a little longer.
-
Hood latch new? if not it might be junk. I played around trying to adjust a few of mine, when I got fed up and put a new one in it fixed the problem.
-
Adjusted the jam nut already.Moved it around.Must need replacing. Also, its not new, came with the truck so I don't know if it was working before.
-
Lube it good with penetrating oil instead
-
I just bought a new one from GM for my 86 it was like $22& change. I am going to order one for my 79 this week cause its a piece of crap too.
-
I'll take it off and remove the grease ,see what happens because it is quite slippery.Maybe too slippery and it shakes easily over the bumps.
-
Are your rubber bumpers up too high?
-
Its not that.I've brought the cam nut down a lot with it quite loose and still does it.I've taken it out and removed all the grease at this point ,just gotta go for a test drive.
-
Test drive: No good.I'll have to buy a new one.

try checking your release cable , maybe its getting stuck at a point which will release the mechanism. try lubricating the cable .
