Title: HMM magazine answered my question
Post by: philo_beddoe on August 12, 2016, 01:09:11 pm
When Vile Z. installed my new crate 350 , i was just messin around and threw the ZDDP question out to "Ask Ray" in the tech section of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine. I was reading the response today and totally forgot i sent in the question. Then it hit me about half way through. Weird, anyway, i dont know what "metallurgy" means and i dont know my valve spring pressure. I'm assuming around 70-80 pounds. I even mentioned Vile (without naming names of course). Oh, and i no longer use the STP.

And where can i find rocket motor oil?Lol

lol It's essentially the whole science around metals, of course in can be used in different context. He's referring to the hardness of the cam. Your engine is stock, you do not have extreme pressures to worry about.

Awesome that they printed your question But that's a pretty vague answer
Every old Chevy 350 I've ever seen had a wiped cam lobe

Ive heard that when they Fedgov outlawed zinc that the Diesel engine oils still had it
So that's what I run in my old vehicles what don't have roller cams

But if whoever owned it before you ran oil with no zinc , then he can is going to be damaged most likely

I love HMN
I remember my dad getting them when they were readers digest size

Collectable! Keep it, could be worth $$

There is a market for old oil cans and gas station stuff.
