Title: The two prong oil sender near the oil filter...
Post by: Stewart G Griffin on August 14, 2016, 05:47:22 pm
i can't get the plug to fit snugly over the sender and stay on:

It's Borg Warner # S695

Is there a sender that is a little smaller up top in the black area?

NOTE: the one in the pic is actually the one that came with the 4.3 but same problem.  In this case it's 1/8" npt and was located near the distributor and since the plug was on top i didn't have problems with it coming off.  Now that i'm running it near the oil filter, the plug won't stay on and can't get it to go on all the way anyway.

have you tried to use a degreaser on the rubber to get some of that oil off?

me personally would use brake cleaner for the outside parts sprayed on a rag then wipe. Im sure theres a “proper” cleaner like

Those connectors used to be nice and pliable.  With age they have gotten hard and shrunk.

Standard Motor Products S939 (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/smp-s939)

Pair the two blue wires to one terminal and the pink wire to the other.
