Hello, my name is Mike and my project truck is a 1984 GMC Sierra Classic 2wd, 3 speed auto that I picked up from my granddad shortly before he passed away. He never modified the truck and rarely drove it so it was old man bone stock when I got it with 55k original miles. All I did to it for a long time was tint the windows, rebuild the transmission and add wheels which made it look like this (http://i.imgur.com/ROuk7ed.jpg)
Don't get me wrong, I do have a sentimental side, but I have decided that I am going to change a lot about this truck in the coming months. I have pulled it into my garage and stripped all of the chrome trim and bumpers. I really want to go for a muscle truck type of look. I do have all the trim pieces and stock wheels in good shape if anyone is interested in that for a restoration project. I would also like to build a motor for it. Now it has an extremely low mileage (58k miles now) 305 in it. Since I kind of would like to keep the 305 considering the shape it's in I am considering building it with the following parts:
1. Carb (http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/1406K2/10002/-1)
2. Intake (http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/513000K/10002/-1)
3. Headers (http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/30055/10002/-1)
4. Cam (http://www.jegs.com/i/Lunati/638/10120101K/10002/-1)
5. Heads (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-30310001) or (http://www.jegs.com/i/World-Products/955/042650-1/10001/-1)
6. Distributor (http://www.jegs.com/i/Accel/110/59107C/10001/-1)
7. Ring & Pinion (http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/60031K/10002/-1)
I'm not an expert engine builder, but this seemed to be a solid combo for a 305 from the internet searching I did. If anyone has a virtual dyno I would be curious what kind of power this kind of build would make. Anyway, it is either that or a low boost (7-8 psi) turbo setup on the stock motor with maybe a milder cam.
That's all for now!

Looks like a great start! I'll be following as I've got the same motor in my '85

That is a gorgeous truck. I'm interested to see what you do with it.
