Title: Converting to a mechanical/manual fuel pump. WHICH pump/part #?
Post by: 87ChevyR10 on September 01, 2016, 07:36:16 pm
I cant seem to fluke these dropdown menus, I'm sure I could if I knew what setting to use, but once I put in 1987 Chevrolet r10 305 5.0 L its tryna shoot me the electric pumps.

Since I have been thru #6 now, as of a few months ago, I've decided to convert to non electric.

can anybody help with suggestions? I understand ill have to replace the hoses with it but what about a regulator also?

Thanks in advance

Is the engine original to the truck?

I don't know if there is a mechanical pump that produces enough pressure to feed fuel injection.  Are you still TBI?

???

I assume you have an R10 that is TBI in which you are saying you have replaced 6 in tank fuel pumps? Is that correct? If so how are you determining that the pump is the issue?

pump wasnt the issue. but still bought new sending unit asly/pump and new ACD fuel filter. Going to order a new tank monday and pickin up the ACD fuel pump relay tomorrow hopefully.

Researching the best way to fresh rewire the whole fuel system. Found several wiring issues, ground missing/not connected, pump wires touching metal where lines (pump power/ground & rubber fuel) coming off the harness were rubbing against the cut metal in the bed paneling where my dad routed it up to the bed, where its at now. fun stuff. may have figured out why though.

also plan on replacing all the fuses in the block too when i finish getting the rest shipped and in my hands,
