Title: Best frame paint over rust convertor
Post by: kcwis on September 20, 2016, 03:21:59 pm
Is Rustoleum the best to use for frame paint up here where salt is used alot in winter? The frame is treated with Corroseal now.

Rustoleum would work but POR would probably be the best along with Eastwood. Surprisingly VHT Chassis Epoxy Black paint is a pretty good product, especially for the price. I used it on my recent 61 Impala build, and that car was sold and on its way to England where the paint will get plenty of salt and snow.

Yah, in the salty states you need something a little tougher. I have used chassis saver on many iron articles. No crack, chip, peel or fade. Tough stuff.

I've used  POR with success. It's all about prep.
Some don't like it  because it will peel.
I've also experienced this, but it was do to lazy prep.
It has its purpose and directions must be followed like any coating.

Use Chassis Saver. It's the same as POR and $30 cheaper per gallon. Used the Chassis Saver on my Dodge Ram 2500 diesel. When I pulled the engine and trans I painted the engine bay, frame and under body as well as the inside of the truck floor. Amazing stuff
