Title: 2" wheels spacers on my 1980 C20 Suburban.
Post by: Ludwig Von 88 on October 03, 2016, 06:52:31 am
Hello guys,

I just received 4 wheels spacers 2", I buy it because my truck already have 1,5" spacers but only on the front wheels and i notice sometime, especially when i'm on a motorway with ruts, an unhealthy floating.

The reason why i buy 4 of 2" is because it was less expensive than 2 of 1.5", I mean 100$ for the 4.

Can you tell me if it's dangerous to put that on my truck and what I need to be careful for the mounting?

any spacing is not good but as long as you have enough stud protruding and the lug nut get a firm bite you should be ok as long as your not running the rugged trails wide open...also torgue your lug nuts and check them periodically. I for one would never run spacers.

Correct torque is very important. If you plan on leaving the spacers on for a long period of time use blue loctite on the lug nuts that attach the spacer to the hub.  I can't tell if you got hub-centric spacers from the picture; if you didn't, get some centric rings to carry the load and center the spacer on the hub.  i have run spacers on every vehicle I own and have only had one instance where one lug nut had worked loose, and I caught it at my tire rotation interval so no damage occurred.

Thanx for your answer.

So i will check the torque with torque wrench, use some blue loctit to attach the spacer to the hub and hub-centric rings for loading weight.

I'm ready to do it in peace of mind.

it has been a while since i seen a c20 but i dont think the hub is as big as the spacers and that means the lugs will carry all the weight and they will have extra leverage on the lugs due to the spacers putting the wheels 2" past the hubs. the spacers are universal so they will have a bigger hub and the wheels are universal so they also will have a bigger hub to fit other brands of trucks. this is my take on spacers and your wheels. it maybe wrong but i think its good  8)

You are right Irish, this is how it look on the rear wheels, I think keep it like that for a few time cause it make my truck look like a bad *** , and forget that option in the future to not damage that lovely mecanic.

Anyway thanx for your advise.
