Title: Fuel Gauge Question
Post by: Jon87V20 on October 03, 2016, 08:00:42 pm
Hello!

I have an '87 Suburban V20 that did not come with the factory-equipped tach. It's also a single fuel tank truck if that matters.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if the large fuel gauge that came with non-tachometer equipped trucks can use the same sending unit as the smaller fuel gauge that came with the tachometer-equipped trucks. Are they calibrated the same? Could I just plug and play a smaller fuel gauge with the same wiring as the large one, or would this read wrong?

I'm asking because I was considering putting an Autometer tach I have in the fuel gauge spot next to the speedo and moving to a smaller fuel gauge in the lower left unused spot by the other gauges.

Thanks!

Senders are electrically the same, 0 - 90 Ohms.  There is a difference in physical configuration, because of the in-tank fuel pump, but that should have no bearing on what you are doing.
