Title: 78 K30 Turbo 400 issues
Post by: ci7K30 on October 03, 2016, 09:39:02 pm
Just had my 78 K30 in for a trans flush. My mech said the intercooler isn't work but it still seems like it is shifting into gear (not road tested yet) He showed my the filter, which had a ton of buildup on it, and the the fluid was really dark and had a heavy metallic sheen to it. Mech said he only found a few metal pieces and they were really small. He's rechecking his work to make sure cooler and filter are set right but said it's prob a rebuild situation and he'll know in the morning.

Here are my Qs: If intercooler is shot and I am only using the truck to get to work and back at this time, 10 miles round trip, do I need to worry about this right now? Is a rebuild a good idea or do I get a new trans? What else should I be asking?
