Title: 1977 K20 LH Rear Turn Signal and Brake
Post by: ehjorten on October 10, 2016, 12:37:05 pm
So on my '77 K20 the LH Rear lamp is giving me fits...if I turn on the lights, all of the lamps light up normally.  If I turn on the turn signals and walk around, all of them function normally.  If I step on the brake the LH Rear does not light up and actually it goes dark!  Turn signal on the LH Rear does not work and all goes dark as well if I step on the brake with the turn signal functioning.

From reading it sounds like it could be the turn signal switch in the column?  I replace the bulb and it seems that I could get both filaments to light, but they are definitely dim and not receiving full voltage?!  Perhaps it is a bad connection?  Where should I check...in the frame connector at the back of the frame and where else?

I sure hope it isn't the turn signal switch, although replacing it is not at bad as getting deeper into the column.

The LH rear tail light is the ground for the lights.  Check that first

Where is that ground located...pigtail to a bolt under the body?

Right behind the taillamp housing to a tab on the body.
