Title: Gear Selector slipped?
Post by: Spool on October 11, 2016, 11:35:36 pm
Hey Guys, I drive a 73' C20 and rarely park on hills.

However, while shifting from park to drive on an decline, I felt a more than usual bump when coming out of park.

This evening I noticed, that the gear selector is now a little loose and hitting my keys in the ignition when shifting from park, reverse or drive.

Is this a steering column issue or something larger?

The only thing i can suggest is to take a look at the transmission rear mount---see if it is still in good shape;  When the trans mount goes bad it can cause misalignment and take the shifter linkages out of it's support hole mounted on the left side framerail.

Other than that i have no idea.....
