I repaired this problem by welding 1/8 inch steel on the top and bottom of the frame rails.I also sandwhiched 1/8 inch steel on both sides of the frame rails. Now i what to do a frame up restoration to the truck. What should i do? should i buy a new frame? or will that frame be okay? Let me Know fellow ck pickup owners.

Sounds like you did a good job.Your frame should be fine.
Check it closely when you do your frame off.

out of curiosity, where is this infamous crack usually at?
-
I believe he is referring to the frame cracking behind the steering gearbox. Many especially the 73-80 frames would crack and the gear box would actually pull right off the frame if it got bad enough.
-
I am refering to the crack that appears before the drivers shock right by the crossmember under the bed but before the rear axle, i will take pictures and post them for you guys to check out.
-
Haven't heard of that one.I thought you were talking about the front at the steering box also.

Yeah that's not really an infamous frame crack...I've never seen one crack there.
