Title: open exhaust near transmission cable, is this heat safe?
Post by: Macaroni_Sackaroni on November 22, 2016, 02:59:29 pm
Don't care about the motor so I opened my headers for fun.
I think this is the shift linkage cable but its pretty close to the exhaust end.

Worried it might start melting because this happened to my go kart. Before I bought it the guy setup the throttle cable directly in-front of the exhaust opening ...lol  and the plastic on the throttle cable melted a little so I rerouted it.
Cant really reroute the this transmission cable but If needed I think I can put a little pipe on the end so it extends away from the cable.

i don't like how it's so close to the speedo cable as well as the e-brake cable.  Can you put some heat shield wrap around the speedo cable, like:

i dont like it either.

yeah i actually had a metal heat shield i pulled off a ford ranger and the other day i was looking at it and said "ill prob never need this" and threw it away. prob would have been perfect for this could have just welded it right on.

i dont think the e-brake is at risk since this is how the truck was setup before i bought it. plus its metal its not going to get that hot.
