Title: fed up with fedex
Post by: Irish_Alley on November 23, 2016, 08:22:40 pm
this is more of a FYI for you guys. i got 4 struts for my impala a few weeks ago off ebay from 3 different vendors. i shopped around with each part number finding the cheapest ones. jegs was one of them, well within the first week i received all but JEGS. emailed them asked for a shipping number and a few days later received one that had just been shipped. oh well they forgot or lost my order but its fixed and i would be receiving my strut in a few days. then the day i was "supposed" to be delivered, i was home. they usually will bring it to the front door and knock. but this time they said they dropped it off at the garage. i was home when they "dropped" it off and never did a delivery truck stop by. now i tried to contact FEDEx to report this claim and how the driver never stopped by but JEGS and FedEx have a contract and i cant talk to fedex and its all up to JEGS. im certain they wont be around for the holiday so my strut will still be lost.

the reason for this rant is if youre expecting a package cover yourself cause you cant even trust the delivery guys anymore

First, i'm shocked that Jeg's would initially fumble an order like that, unless it said in the add that it would not ship until a certain date?

2) i think most of the those fedex ground guys (with the green letters) are actually independent contractors to fedex?

ordered on the 9th ETA was 16th. sent a message on the 19th about no tracking number. shipped out on the 20th. i have no idea who was supposed to deliver it. but i guess a big box weighing about 30lbs the driver couldnt resist the urge to see whats in it. we never had a issue with someone taking a package even left ones sitting out for a few days before i took them inside.

Yes, the green ground fed ex are 100% independent, they have to buy and maintain their own trucks, uniforms, everything. Not as good service usually.

So I just got home and guess what sitting in front of my garage. An open box with a strut, I know it wasn't there when I left and I even went to the neighbors house before I left for work to see if they got it.

Guess the person who had it opened it up and realized it wasn't as valuable as they thought it was and decided to deliver it before it was reported. But I'm going to keep the ball rolling and not claim it was delivered for a few days. If they send another then I'll return it but there should be a report made and hopefully this does the trick

Two months ago they delivered a box to my house that was for my neighbor 3 houses up the street. We dropped it off to them and they had already done the same as you and apparently flipped their lid saying it was never delivered. Well I guess they stuck to their story that they never received the item because the driver showed up at my house the next day looking for it while I was on the lawn mower. I explained to him that I had already given it to the neighbor who is a state cop and that i did so the day they delivered it. He didn't believe me at first so I got off the lawn mower, then he backed off. I told him to go see the cop and to take it up with him. Not sure if he pressed the matter but it was obvious the driver got stuck with the claim.

love ups and they normally are the ones who deliver.

im not going to stick to my story about not receiving it but ill let them sweat it till tomorrow, might give them enough time to start a paper trail just to see if this drive is "trust worthy" or has a habit of doing this. my neighbor is someone that i would trust with the house keys, so i dont see him opening up the package then redelivering it to my house. then at the same time i dont see why the driver wouldnt just open it on his truck and not like it then deliver

I had Jegs put a description in my ship to address that is specific to only my house. After FedEx dropped my packages at my neighbor's house a couple of times I figured I should idiot proof my deliveries.

something else i dont get everyone else will walk the extra 25' to the front porch drop the package and knock then leave. theres also usually 3 other trucks in the driveway that they could drop a package in the bed (obvious one doesnt get driven) and keep it out of prying eyes

This is not a gripe, but an observation that you may already know.

But i just found out that on core returns, at least with RockAuto, the customer is responsible for the shipping costs.

i had never had to do a core return through the mail so i never knew.

i will say i was blown away by how fast my wiper motor got here from Rock Auto.  i believe i ordered it on Sunday and it got here Tuesday.

Not sure if it's worth it, when the shipping fee will be $6.00 on a $15 core refund?

Stew you know those buy 10 CDs for the price of "1' from the late 90s. They end up sending you ones you needed ordered in the mail and if you opened them they were yours unless you paid to ship them back. But if returned them to the post office unopened and told them to return to shipper you don't get charged. Although I do understand what you're saying I don't think they will automatically just ship a new one out with in the first couple days in the middle of a holiday
