Hey guy's,
I just bought an '85 silverado and the window seals are shot and I would like to replace them...but how do you go about doing that? Is there a special tool needed?
Thanks

Which window?
-
That would be the drivers and passengers windows...

If you are talking about the inner outer weatherstripping that attaches to the door panel and the outside door lip you don't have to remove the window.
If you are talking about the vent channel, it will be easier if you remove the vent assembly.
If you are talking about the window sash channel, you don't have to remove the window for that either if you can get your hand in there to seat the channel. I just did this a few weekends ago and took some pics for a tech article.

that helps, it's just the outer seals I'm concerned about for now. I was looking at them yesterday trying to figure it out and I saw the clips and couldn't figure out how to get the clips out of the channel to pull the seal out. Also, do you have a link to those pics, I'd like to check'em out?

I will try and upload them tonight.

Files have to be uploaded to the internet to post them. You can't like from your personal PC.

That's what I figured....I'll see if I can come up with something...

The ones at the top of the door panel and the outside of the door right?

They pull off with a little tug.

The ones connected to the door panel require a little more care since you can break the door panel when the clasp on. Chris Lucas

BTW, if you ever replace the vent windows, you'll have to remove the big windows to do that.
That isn't actually 100% true. It is possible to do it. I pulled my vent windows out without the main glass and replaced all the weatherstripping and put it back in. Don St.Clair
