My door jamb dome light switch has punched through the door and the dome light no longer comes on due to the switch always getting stuck. Before I go and do something stupid has anyone else had success in fixing this without welding. I was almost thinking about drilling a hole and then kinda counter sinking a screw into there to have the plunger hit something to activate the light. Good idea or bad. Thanks

my ol' 85' has been shot for yrs. mine does still work off the lite switch tho.....matter of personal preference I guess.....maybe JB weld a small piece of thin sheet metal over the hole.

I have tried the jb weld route and it lasts about 3 door slams. And then cracks off. Thanks though

rivet a small panel to the door

I'd do the same but with an elevator bolt.

Replace the switch and glue on a blank with adhesive sealant. Let it dry overnight.

Chetma , just saw your post from dec, 2016. I think you have the best idea to drill and c' sink
For a flat head bolt to fix your door switch. Anything else would look Cobbled.

When I bought some add-on courtesy lights they came with new door switches. However, the diameter for the threaded portion was larger than the original ones in the truck.
I ended up cleaning and re-using the original switches. However, I could have drilled and tapped the door fitting for a larger diameter switch, which might fix your problem.

Any idea where I can find the switches with the larger diameter? Mine are stripped out.
