Just made my run down to TX. After around 800 mi. check engine light came on. After pulling into a gas station, gauges read good, fluids read good. Did notice at idol, seemed like there was a exhaust leak growing. Thinking it is the O2 sensor that was making my check engine light come on. After resting it doesn't come on.
My question is: Does my light need to be on before going thru Obd1 code retrieval that is in tech. section? Finally caught up on my rest....Hoping to get exhaust fixed today, eliminating one issue.

Answered my own question, as it did record a code. The code: 24- vehicle speed sensor (vss) or circuit. I will have to read more into that, as I don't nothing about it.
Turned out it was leaking around the donut. As my luck runs, studs were rotten next to manifold. Manifold was pretty ate up. New manifold cured the problem.

Read the code wrong......it was the O2 sensor. Hopefully after reboot, I'll be good to go again.
