I cleaned off the tar or sealer on the firewall so I could get at all the rust. Now that I have it primed, I was thinking of reapplying some sealer before I get into the colour coat.
Is there a brush on sealer I can use? I was thinking of a brush on an acrylic(? water based?) paste we use on HVAC ductwork. It stays slightly pliable and spreads on easily.
I thought a bead of seam sealer would look out of place. (and it cant cover up all the rust pitting.)
Thanks in advance.

I have used the stuff for HVAC duct work before. It worked OK. I usually use Dynatron gray of #3M gray brushable seam sealer with an acid brush or my finger. You can smooth it up with a rag and laquer thinner.

I know this is a late reply, but I bought some spray on rubber sealant from walmart. 3.97 and comes in a red and black can. In the auto department, by the spray paint section. Works great, prevents further rusting, and acts as a sound deadner. Works for the undercarriage also.
