Title: Which year bumper??

I have a 74 k10 frame with an 81 bed on it.  Looking to order a new rear bumper.  I am guessing I should order an 81 bumper but what about the bumper brackets?  My truck had make shift mounts for a step bumper so I need to purchase the mounts but I am not sure what year mounts to get.

Any ideas?

Rear part of frame is the same 73-87 while the front frame horns are 73-80 and 81-87.  Whatever floats your boat when it comes to the rear... but brackets need to match the bumper

So what your saying is I can purchase a 74 bumper and 74 brackets and it will match up?  Or to be safe I can purchase the 81 bumper and 81 brackets?

yes the 74 bumper will fit.  The bed only has slight differences in the tailgate and gas doors anyway.
