I'm a newbie to trucks, just bought a 87 350 MPFI /700r4 short box 2wd. Speedo runs fast, and I was wondering Can I just replace maybe the driven gear. I have to see what the diff is. I thought it might be electrical. I will ck rear axle ratio. Also, throttle is hard to push, not like a carb. Hope it is something simple. This is my first post, but I'm sure there will be more. I've always been into cars
Before. Thanks. Jerry

Check this article on speedo calibration. You can get the gears from GM...

ON the TBI see if it has an extra spring on it. The TBI should be fairly light.

Captkaos,
The extra spring , do you mean attached to throttle linkage from elsewhere (manifold etc)
-
Yes. TBI has its own throttle springs on the shaft itself.

MPFI is not TBI. What do you have for an MPFI setup?
-
I have the orig 350/700r4 set-up. I don't know how MPFI got in there. I thought it was TBI.
Sorry about that, but I will get more familiar with trucks as time goes on. Thanks . Jerry

It's been cold here in Michigan , so l haven't been able to work on my truck. Today it's going.
To be decent so I' m replacing all my coolant hoses and coolant and thermostat. Had leaking
Hose.I will check Gear ratio, then ck calibration chart on here and try to get the right trans gearing. Also replacing My old chrome step bumper with a new sport bumper and brackets from Chris. Then I want To do a slight 2/4 loweriing job on it. Don't know from there. Thanks.
