Title: Single to Dual Headlight swap
Post by: Chevy Boi on January 21, 2017, 01:20:21 pm
I replaced the grille on my 81 c10 with the 88-91 Suburban grille. I had single headlights before and now that i replaced with the dual headlights the headlights will not come on. parking lights and turn signals work just fine. Could it be a bad dimmer switch? Dimmer switch is on the floor by the way. Or is it a special way to wire these lights being that i came from a single headlight going to a dual?

Thanks in advance for all the help you guess provide!

1st double check the grounds. 2nd run power and ground directly to the bulbs to make sure they work.

I'm not too familiar with the later dual headlights, but I'm sure one is just a high beam, the other is a low beam/high beam bulb. How did you connect the existing wiring to the new headlights?

Worst case you buy the front harness for lights, once unbolted from the firewall connector there are three harness-one engine, one front lights, one rear harness and lights.

You need front wiring harness for 89-91 suburban or crew cab. I am doing this swap on my crew cab. I took note where grounds were at as I took it off at junk yard and how they were wired. Hope this helps some.

Thanks hwh! It was the dimmer switch.

also note that the bulkhead connector at the fire wall isnt the same. so you will need to splice wires
