Hello all....
I'm a 40-something healthcare professional and recently relocated to Montana. Was in the need of truck to haul my dirtbike and camp trailer to live in over the summer while shopping around for a house suitable for my family. Have never owned any GM product before and thought I'd come here to sort out some issues. I'll give a little background info......
Had a head-hunter scout me out online and asked if I'd be interested in relocating and taking a management position. Talked with the wife, flew out, and accepted the job offer. I had only a couple of weeks to prepare, so I quit my then-current job and got ready for my big move. Was without a truck at the time, so I bought my neighbor's 1987 3/4-ton the day before I left town. Topped off the fluids, air'd up the tires, and loaded my bike and camper up. It's a longbed 4wd with the 350TBI and TH400 trans. As usual, the mpg stinks, it rides rough, leaks/burns oil, but has been the most reliable rig we've had in our first Montana winter with temps reaching near -50F. We moved into a rental last August because the market pretty much doesn't exist. I'm in a town of 700, so options are few for everything, not just real estate. Was able to nail down a house purchase and moved during a wicked snow storm in December. My gated driveway had drifts taller than the hood of the truck, so ain't no way in heck my wife's little Honda Civic was gonna make it. We hired a company to bring all our crap to us last summer, but I had to move us into this new house. Talked a doctor-friend of mine into letting me use their enclosed snowmobile trailer and we just took one load a time. The truck proved to be priceless this winter. Since it has issues and lacks overdrive, I've been thinking of trading it in. We lost the head gasket in our family, her little Honda has been in the shop twice in the last 6mo, and my old convertible has a parasitic draw on the battery I still need to track down. Even tho it has a few issues, she won't let me get rid of the truck. Looks like I'll be hanging onto it for awhile.
So, that's my story and the reason why I'm here. I'll likely be picking somebody's brain about high idle and rear brakes that don't seem to want to work. Thanks a bunch!

Once we are finally settled, I do intend on drowning a few worms in our local reservoir. I inherited my grandfather's boat when he passed 4yrs ago and have been using it to ski with the kids during the summer and fish (alone!) when they are back in school in the fall. Because of our temps, I even get to try my hand at ice fishing!! Been wanting to try that for awhile now. Many of my patient's do this in the winter, so I've already got some folks willing to show me their tricks o' the trade.
